| 1st Honorable Mention Seasoned Poet We seem to be losing the beauty of words
and the mystery of language. I cannot be the only one who feels the loss. I am mourning the death of grammar since it has been stabbed in the heart by technology. Gone is the handwritten love letter filled with intense longing caused by a prolonged absence. Someting to be savored and reread then kept like a secret treasure. We no longer count the days until we speak to our lover again. Anticipation is quickly disappearing, a resistant passenger, on the speedy train of instant gratification. I cannot help but wonder what price is to be paid for this evolution of technology. We will all one day soon be standing in museums looking at letters as they hang on the wall, preserved behind glass, and saying to each other "Can you believe the labor involved in writing that letter. "I think they call that cursive." © 2011 Susan F Collea. All Rights Reserved.
